As you go through life, and things come up, do you find that sometimes you end up feeling like you are spinning your wheels without much change happening or progress being made?
I don’t know about you, but with me that happens far more often than I care to admit; but I am going to admit it, right here right now.
What I have come to find is that I find myself relying on my self, my own problem-solving abilities, my own strength, and my own power. Which is why I often times find myself spinning my wheels when trying to make change, resolve an issue, or just have the power and fortitude to get through something.
What I am realizing more and more is that this is why I am failing. I need a power source that is beyond my own.
you have accepted Christ Jesus as Lord, live in union with him. Keep your roots deep in him, build your lives on him, and become stronger in your faith, as you were taught. And be filled with thanksgiving. See to it, then, that no one enslaves you by means of the worthless deceit of human wisdom, which comes from the teachings handed down by human beings and from the ruling spirits of the universe, and not from Christ. For the full content of divine nature lives in Christ, in his humanity, and you have been given full life in union with him. He is supreme over every spiritual ruler and authority.
Colossians 2:6-10 GNT
What this passage tells me is that I have to take the power that is given to me as a believer of Christ and use that as my source.
Let’s visualize this:
While I do have power (the ability to do things) it is only gonna stretch so far, like the power of any electronic device. But in order for me to have full power I have to plug in and charge with the fundamental power source (God) and allow for that power to be used in and through me.
If I never plug my phone in, it will only last but so long and then be rendered useless until it is plugged in. The same is true for you and me; we have to tap in to the ultimate power source. When we try to push through without plugging in to our source we then find ourselves in a state of “off” and thus feeling useless.
Furthermore, the reliance on human power, will only give human results. But when we rely on the mighty power of God, we get the extraordinary results only God can produce.
Have you struggled at all with forgiveness?
I sure have, and honestly, I still do. In my flesh, I have times that I want to hold grudges and justify my unforgiveness towards others.
But did you know that through the power of God, you have the power of forgiveness??
Yes! You do!
You were at one time spiritually dead because of your sins and because you were Gentiles without the Law. But God has now brought you to life with Christ. God forgave us all our sins;
Colossians 2:13 GNT
God’s forgiveness provides a covering and a protection, and is complete. But with it, also comes the responsibility to forgive others.
12Forgive us the wrongs we have done, as we forgive the wrongs that others have done to us. 14 If you forgive others the wrongs they have done to you, your Father in heaven will also forgive you. 15But if you do not forgive others, then your Father will not forgive the wrongs you have done.
Matthew 6:12, 14-15
You have the full power to forgive!
Forgiveness can be one of those things that’s so hard to employ. Maybe I am just speaking for me. But it takes the full power of God to forgive those wrongs that you deem eternally unforgivable. I am finding the only way that I can do this is by plugging in to the ultimate power source.
This is just one way that plugging into our ultimate power source can give us the power that we need. But the list does not stop here. Maybe forgiveness is not your issue. What other areas do you need to plug into the full power of God in order to change? Can you think of other areas of your life, that you need the full power of God to push through and claim victory? Take to the comments and tell me about it!
Be Blessed!
